There was a great post about replacing a rear main seal on a cherokee, it helped me a lot and the pics were great the only thing I was wondering about was top seal, when you push it through does the end have to come out so far so that both sides make contact with the bottom seal. maybe its an obvious question, but I couldnt se it on the pic so I thought I would ask.

Two seals supposed to mate. Otherwise the oil would leak. I wish I can show you with a picture, but I am not sure if it is possible to take photo of them actually mating. ;)
