An accident bent the drivers side "outer C bracket" on my front axle, and cracked the exaust manifold in several spots. I purchased a "Dormand 674-196" manifold ($100.00) and downloaded the "Exaust Manifold Replacement Guide"(exelent-thank you) from this site, so that problem is covered. Now the axle: I was told by a mchanic the "C" bracket could not be straightened , and that I would have to replace the entire axle. Is this true? My axle is a "Dana 30 with 3.73 geer ratio and no ABS". Finding a matching axle at a decent price is proving diffucult. Have contacted salvage yards all over the country and thier prices range from $800.00 +s&h (100,000 miles) to $1800+s&h (20,000 miles) Is there any alternative to replacing the axle? If not, and I do have to get a new axle, is there a "Front Axle Replacemet Guide" I can download? Any thoughts would be welcome.
