Found a used dana 30 to replace my bent front axle. Questions - (1) Blocking: I have the frame blocked on both sides just passed the front of the doors. Will this be stable enough after front axle is removed? - (2) Removal and Replacement: Are there step by step procedures to follow when disconnecting, removing, and re-installing axles? Thanks.

In a nutshell,

Put a pair of jack stands right behind the front lower control arm mounts at the frame rail.
Undo wheels from the axle.
Remove the springs and undo shocks(at the axle ends)
Remove brake calipers from the axle.
Undo the breather hose at the axle end.
Undo the tie rod end at the pitman arm.
Undo the drive shafts at the axle end.
Undo the track bar.
Undo the control arms at the axle ends.

That should remove the axle from the Jeep.

Removal of spring may not be necessary but for your safety if you can remove it before unbolting your control arms.

I say remove them as it can store energy and when it is relieved abruptly, you can break bones and depending on where it bounces to, it can also kill.
