Looking to buy a rcovery strap for light trail use.
What is a good size to carry 2", 3", 20,30 or 40 feet long?

Do you mean 2' or 3'? Or you meant width?

Anyways, my thought is, longer the better if you have room in the trail so you have some room to clear when you are yanked out or yanking someone out. Besides, it better reach there than come up short. IMO.

Yes, I meant the width of the strap. Then the length. I'm thinking I may go with a 2" by 30' strap from 4wd. com

I use a 2" by 30'. If you get to high of a rated one, weight wise, you lose the kinetic energy that you should utilize for the pull. Check these out from Zone. Lifetime warranty. http://zoneoffroad.com/product.....46&gr=

I have always just used a 2" by 20'. I have one from Tractor Supply Co. that is white (looped) and had 3 from Walmart's auto section the same size, until they were stolen. But, prior to them being stolen, they worked just as good as the TSC one for a recovery strap.
